A dramatic and desperate escape by a driver behind the wheel of a Veri-Rent flagged vehicle caused damage to the premises of the Veri-Rent subscriber. The certain theft of a trailer was avoided.
When the suspect vehicle arrived at our client in Ermelo they immediately recognised the notorious vehicle involved in a number of trailer thefts. Veri-Rent's community of rental companies had put the word out on this vehicle, driven by different persons, stealing trailers all across the country. When they closed the gate the man realised he had been spotted and that the police would be on their way. The case numbers and details had been shared between rental company owners.
In a sickeningly desperate bid to escape the man drove his vehicle through the enormous gate!
The damage was done to the property, but at least the expensive trailer remains in it's rightful owner's possession. It is very difficult to insure rental products, but the gate can definitely be insured!
